Kurt Ehrhardt

Kurt Ehrhardt's tennis teaching career has spanned over thirty-five years and three continents. His fluency in French, German, and Spanish has enabled him to penetrate and to participate in elite international tennis circles. Kurt is thrilled to bring his experience and energy back to Indiana where he plans to continue his teaching, research, and writing.

Kurt worked with American tennis icon Vic Braden in Germany and went on to run his own tennis camps. He was the technical and contributing editor for Tennis Revue, (now Tennis Magazine). Kurt's "En Detail," was the longest running teaching series in Europe featuring almost 200 articles. In addition he contributed to, and edited, the technical teaching series written by Boris Becker's coach, Gunther Bosch, Steffie Graf's coach, Pavel Slozil, Wimbledon Champion and German Davis Cup coach, Niki Pilic, and German Federation Cup coach, Klaus Hofsass.

Kurt produced his own tennis teaching video, "Turbo Tennis," which was sponsored by Rosi Mittermaier Ski and Tennis Company. Mittermaier won 3 Olympic medals, 2 gold and 1 silver, in the 1976 winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria.

During the 1990's Kurt founded and directed Fila's official Tennis Training Camp at Gut Ising on the Chiemsee in Bavaria. This seven star facility hosted Fila's corporate entertaining as well as gala apparel and equipment launches.

This intense tennis specialist predicates the importance of details on the tennis court, and that learning is the key to winning. He always prefaces his literary and video work with his teaching motto:

Your court position and the height of the ball
determine your tactic, and your tactic
determines your technique (shot selection).

This motto exemplifies his avant-garde thinking as it is the exact opposite of traditional teaching methods. As a result all of his students are exposed to his vast repertoire of shots, which replace the generic forehand, backhand, serve, and volley tennis schools. His players also master the correct usage of the "sides" of the tennis ball.

Kurt employs numerous techniques to demonstrate and utilize the power of the mental game. The ability of his advanced students to stay in the "NOW" has enhanced their concentration and focus on and off the court.

The tennis knowledge and tennis fluency of all Kurt's students is tested weekly with a written quiz. Consequently the bi-lateral communication of coach/student is guaranteed!
