Why
should/would a player take a private lesson?
- To "detail" a player's path
- To understand the progression in terms of
stroke development and biomechanics - development of strategy - mental
development
- To be evaluated on a consistent basis
- To ensure that stroke deficiencies do not
cause injuries
- To be around someone who cares about you
outside of your family
- To be guided by a true tennis coach is usually
the difference between making it or not!
What should you look for in a coach for your
child?
- Do a complete background check on the
pro/coach..?

- Does he/she care about the student outside of
the lesson time?
- Does the coach have sound values when it comes
to life in general?
- Is the coach mentally and physically engaged
in each lesson?
- Is the coach willing/able to use video
analysis effectively?
- Does the coach see the student play
matches/points?
- Does the coach understand the modern game and
continue to study its evolution?
- Does the coach look like a "tennis
player?"
- Is this a person I want my kids around?
